Unlike machine-printed reproductions, authentic woodblock prints are created by hand—layer by layer—using sumi ink and pigments carefully applied by skilled printers. This traditional method gives each piece a distinct sense of depth and presence. Every print carries the soul and craftsmanship of both the carver and the printer, making each one truly unique.
Please note that the image shown is a sample. Each piece is handmade individually, so slight variations in color, texture, or detail may occur. These differences are a natural result of the traditional process and make every item one of a kind.
【About Teruhide Kato】
Teruhide Kato (1936-2015) had studied at Kyoto Art College. He was a famous kimono fashion designer. When he was 50 years old, he decided to follow his real passion, and became a traditional Kyoto woodblock artist. Success remained with the artist. After a gallery exhibition in New York and a book publication of his works titled “Kyoto Romance” he is as famous as a woodblock artist as he used to be as a kimono designer.
